What in the Heck is a Lab Grown Diamond?

Diamonds have long been a symbol of love (lust? lol), luxury, and enduring brilliance. But recently, lab grown diamonds have come down in price quite a bit, making them much more affordable, not to mention, they are absolutely gorgeous. #yassss Several years back, lab prices were high enough that it really made sense to spend a bit more and go for a natural diamond, but now, lab diamonds are really hot sellers because of the new lower prices. We have an industry friend that works in a jewelry store not far from here, and she said they are selling lab diamonds over natural 4 to 1. We've also heard the same from many of our other jewelry buddies.

What are Lab-Grown Diamonds?

Contrary to popular belief, lab-grown diamonds are not imitation diamonds (think cubic zirconia). They are chemically and physically identical to natural diamonds, possessing the same hardness, brilliance, and fire. #twinsies The key difference lies in their origin - lab grown diamonds are created under controlled conditions, mimicking the natural diamond formation process but in a matter of weeks instead of millions of years.

Cost and Value

Lab-grown diamonds are significantly more affordable than mined diamonds of comparable size and quality. This is due to the elimination of mining and distribution costs, making them an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers. Not to mention, they also allow you to purchase a larger, higher quality diamond while still staying within your budget.

However, it's important to remember that the price of a diamond, whether mined or lab-grown, depends on various factors like cut, clarity, color, and carat weight, of course.

The Future of Diamonds

The lab-grown diamond market is rapidly growing, with increasing consumer demand and acceptance. This trend is reshaping the diamond industry, offering y'all a more sustainable and ethical choice without compromising on quality or sparkle.

Ultimately, the decision of whether to choose a natural or lab-grown diamond is a personal one. By understanding the advantages and considerations of each option, you can make an informed choice that aligns with your values and budget. Remember, the most important factor is finding a diamond that puts a big smile on your face every time you glance at your ring(s).
