NEO MOISSANITE
These beauties came to market in October 2015, and they were the first moissanite to come to market after Charles & Colvard's patent expired. They rolled out their stones with an ideal round cut, and now they have expanded their line to all standard shapes. Hello trillion! They have made great strides with their cut (cut is key, my love), and now have a diamond cut cut round.
When they first became available, they were pretty but not amazing, so a heads up, you'll see some forums where girls are chatting about how they looked several years ago, and some of the feedback wasn't great. We want you guys to be aware that the newer NEOs really are beautiful (like this 4 carat knockout), otherwise we wouldn't be selling them.
We are able to get all kinds of sizes in the NEO, including melee (jeweler speak for tiny ass stones) as well as their gorgeous new cushion cut, which we first saw at the 2016 JCK Vegas gem show, and, well, YUM. They've also rolled out a myriad of other shapes over the last number of years - emerald, radiant, princess, oval, pear, marquise, heart, and half moons, to name a few.
Some geek speak: The NEO is a 4H crystalline polytype, which allows for the cleanest and purest colorless rough crystal growth. (#GemNerd) The NEO outperforms the 6H polytype currently used in the market today, and it is grown and faceted in a way that allows us to create the exact look that you want. While rare on Earth, the NEO is remarkably common in space. It is a common form of stardust found around carbon-rich stars. The NEO is a 4H crystalline polytype, allowing for the cleanest and purest colorless rough crystal growth. WARRANTY?Yup. The NEO has the most kickass warranty of all the stones we sell. It covers color and clarity changes (optical properties) as well as an extended warranty. The extended warranty runs through the original retail store, and it covers any damage resulting in chipping, scratching or abrasions. |
BEEN IN THE BIZ SINCE THE BEGINNING
Guy Stimpson, our resident moissanite expert (#moissaniteman) and all around good fella is flanked by his right-hand man Steve, who has excellent taste in Fedoras. Guy has been in the moissanite biz for 25 years, so he was quite the young fellow when he got in the game. He worked for Charles & Colvard in the early days and was their top European salesman for several years. The man knows this stuff like the back of his hand and the crazy detailed specifics on how the material needs to be cut in order to have a stunning result. He is always eager to educate anyone on moissanite and believe me, give the man a drink and you are in it for the night. (hold on, having a flashback to the JCK gem show in Vegas when we all first met...) Learn more about the science behind the NEO and Guy here, in our Mad Scientist of Moissanite article.
